Christchurch Ready Mix Concrete Ltd (CRMC) was formed in 1963 as division of Transport North Canterbury Ltd. Transport North Canterbury was originally founded in the 1930’s by Mr R G Grant. His sons, Bob and Roly, later purchased the ready mix concrete, shingle, sand supplies and contracting divisions. From January 2005 the company has been wholly owned by the Estate R L Grant. The company currently operates through a Board of Directors and a General Manager.

The CRMC group is made up of four division, concrete, sand and shingle, civil contracting and engineering. It employs in excess of 100 full time employees, who are based over five sites. The head office and administration are based at the Belfast site.

Ready mix concrete is manufactured at our Belfast and Hornby plants. This gives coverage of the city from the north and the south.

The company’s shingle and sand division has four operating sites and several river extraction operations. The sites are Belfast, North End Sand Supplies located at Woodend, a similar operation near Amberley Beach and a shingle pit near West Melton.

A civil construction division compliments the concrete and shingle divisions. The CRMC contracting division target small to medium size construction projects throughout the Canterbury region.

To support the above divisions the company has a well equipped mechanical and engineering workshop based at Belfast. This facility has skilled staff with experience in the maintenance and manufacturing of specialised vehicles and processing plants. This workshop supports both internal and external customers.
